The short version

Brim runs on your Mac. It has no account, no analytics and no telemetry. We only learn three things about you: the email and payment you give Stripe when you buy, and which Macs activated your license.

In the app

Clipboard history, shelf files, notes, timers, to-dos and settings stay on your Mac. API keys, read-only sales keys and your license token live in the macOS Keychain. Ask Brim sends a chat only to the provider you pick: Apple (on device or Private Cloud Compute), OpenAI or Anthropic through the CLI you signed in to, or the API you gave a key for. Agent sessions run locally in the folder you choose. If you turn lyrics on, the song’s title, artist and album go to LRCLIB. Weather sends your approximate location to Open-Meteo; Stocks sends the symbols you watch to Yahoo Finance.

Buying and activating

Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card. We store your email, your license key, the Stripe payment reference and, for each activated Mac, a random device identifier, the Mac’s name, the Brim and macOS versions, and when it last checked in. That lets us enforce the 3-Mac limit, resend lost keys and process refunds. We don’t sell or share it.
